big-idea-logoBig Idea Entertainment and Capitol Christian Distribution announced Tuesday a long-term distribution agreement. The agreement includes the physical retail distribution rights for video products in the U.S. and Canadian Christian retail markets, as well as exclusive worldwide rights, including digital distribution, for all recorded music products. Capitol Christian Distribution will begin shipping orders and processing returns Oct. 1.

Additionally, Capitol Christian Distribution will exclusively premiere the first DVD release from the new Netflix series VeggieTales in the House during the first quarter of 2016.

Greg Fritz, senior vice president of home entertainment for Big Idea, was optimistic about the partnership.

“We are thrilled to partner with Capitol Christian Distribution to bring the classic VeggieTales catalog and exciting new releases to retail,” said Fritz. “Capitol’s position as the Christian retail market leader, expertise in sales and distribution, and innovation in strategic marketing make them the perfect partner to continue to build the VeggieTales brand.”

Capitol Christian Distribution will kick off Veggie Tales’ annual Christmas Retail Campaign in October with a “Celebrate the Joy of Christmas” endcap. This promotion provides independent retailers the opportunity to create a unique Christmas shopping zone and bring key VeggieTales products together for the holiday season. Titles featured include Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas, three Christmas Double Feature DVDs and four Christmas-themed books from Worthy Media/Ideals.

Greg Bays, executive vice president of Capitol Christian Distribution, shared his thoughts on the agreement.

“For more than 20 years, Big Idea has been a consistent leader in children's and family programming,” said Bays. “We are proud to partner with such a long-standing, family and faith-focused organization committed to quality and integrity-filled products.”

A total of 17 catalog DVD titles will remain with Word Distribution, including 10 of Big Idea's original VeggieTales episodes, six compilations and The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie. Word will continue to process orders and returns for these titles.

Big Idea also announced a new pricing model for its DVD catalog. Beginning Oct. 1, 2015, all single-disc DVD titles will be priced at $9.99 SRP, a reduction for many titles previously priced at $12.99 SRP and $14.99 SRP. Additionally, three new collectible tins—Bible Stories, Princess Stories and Christmas Stories—will be available this November. Each collection will include 4 DVDs and other bonus content.
