The Winter Jam 2009 Tour Spectacular finished its 2009 season with record-breaking reports of 7% overall increase in attendance and 4% nightly increase. The tour was also ranked by Pollstar as the fifth largest tour of 2009.

Tyndale to update Gracia Burnham memoir Print Email

Tyndale House Publishers will release an updated trade paper edition of missionary Gracia Burnham’s best-selling memoir, In the Presence of My Enemies, in early 2010. Originally published in 2003, the book became a New York Times best-seller and received a Gold Medallion Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

A retired teacher and homeschooling mother whose “DragonKeeper Chronicles” series (WaterBrook Press) has sold more than a quarter-million copies since the first of its five installments was released in 2004, Donita K. Paul returns to familiar ground with her latest fantasy offering.

Released June 2, The Vanishing Sculptor takes place in the same world as the “DragonKeeper Chronicles” series, but the main characters live on a different continent. Paul's new book tells the story of young Tipper, of the Emerlindian race, in the world of Amara who is responsible for the upkeep of her family’s estate during her sculptor father’s absence.

Pop band Press Play's Life Is Beautiful (Universal Music Christian Group/EMI CMG Distribution) supplanted Point of Grace's How You Live (Word Records/Word Distribution) atop the Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart for sales the week ending May 24, while Fireproof (Provident Films/Provident-Integrity Distribution) remained in the top spot of the SoundScan Christian Videos list.

Concern about financial matters made the biggest impact on the latest best-sellers chart from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), with Dave Ramsey's The Money Answer Book rising to ninth spot in the June Top 50 Books list, released today.

Report says religious publishing down 10% Print Email

Bad news about religious publishing has been spotlighted by the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), ahead of publication of its annual research report.

In what it describes as "a tough year for publishing overall," the BISG's Book Industry Trends 2009 survey-to be published in full in July-found that the "religious segment underperformed the book publishing industry as a whole in 2008, with revenues declining 10% against total industry growth of 1%."
