A longtime Christian retailer and a leading evangelical distributor recently completed a "Bibles for India" project.

Hackman's Bible Book Store in Whitehall, Pa., and Anchor Distributors joined forces for the campaign, which collected more than 3,200 used Bibles last fall at the 62-year-old bookstore.

Shoppers who brought in a used Bible were offered a 20% discount coupon to be used on the purchase of a new Bible. "The promotion was highly successful," store owner Joe Hackman said. "Many churches and individuals were so happy to have a place to give their used Bibles to. No one wants to throw a Bible away, and this gave them joy to know that the people of India would be helped."

The Bibles collected will be given to Inspire International, a Richmond, Va.-based ministry that seeks to distribute a million Bibles and reach a million children in India.
