Speaker and author Vonette Bright has been named the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by Women in Christian Media (WCM), an organization of women working for Christian ministries and organizations on television, radio, publishing and the Internet.

Bright--wife for 55 years of Bill Bright, who died in 2003--is the author and co-author of several books, including the "Sister Circle" series written with Nancy Moser (Tyndale House Publishers); Devoted Wife, Liberated Widow (Sunny Publishers); The Woman Within (New Life Publications); and In His Hands--to be released by Regal Books later this year.

WCM President Suellen Robert said Bright's "consistent energized work over many decades has been outstanding globally. Her life reflects godly character and values of an exceptional woman who is a model for all of us."

Bright will be presented with the award tomorrow, Feb. 26, at the Radisson Opryland Hotel in Nashville during a pre-conference event to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention.

Bright was a previous recipient of WCM's Excellence in Communication Award along with Anne Graham Lotz, Kay Arthur, Janet Parshall, Joni Eareckson Tada, Shirley Rose and June Hunt.
