US Census Bureau: Bookstore sales rise in September Print Email

BakerBookHouse-bookscashwrap-webBookstore sales increased by 6.8 percent in September, relative to September 2014, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s preliminary sales estimates. Bookstores posted $1.1 billion worth of sales during September, a $69 million increase over the same month last year.

Bookstores have also seen better sales during the first half of 2015 than they did last year. In 2014, the first six months represented $8.255 billion in sales; in 2015, bookstores have accrued $8.19 billion.

Retail as a whole has been similarly outperforming last year. Overall sales are up 2.3 percent in the first half of 2015 compared to the same time period in 2014.
