DVD Beat: Carlos Caterpillar, VeggieTales' Christmas, 'Expellled' Print

Move over Hermie, “The Adventures of Carlos Caterpillar” recruits bugs to teach 4- to 10-year-olds, with programs 4 and 5 released last month from Vision Video. The Litterbug DVD addresses care of the environment, while Buggy Bigbucks looks at contentment and true friendship. Each 25-minute episode has English and Spanish subtitles, and retails for $9.99.    

Moving underwater, the “Starfish Cove” series has just brought two episodes to Christian retail. Distributed by Bridgestone Multimedia Group, Never Trust a Krum! alerts youngsters to the dangers of child predators, while Da’Codfather recasts the story of the good Samaritan. Total running time for the set, with extras, is 49 minutes. Retail price, $14.95.

 

 

Out last month, in time for Christmas, was VeggieTales: Holiday Pack from Big Idea, twinning popular DVD episodes The Toy That Saved Christmas and The Star of Christmas with two Christmas music CD favorites. Offering 29 songs and more than 120 minutes’ viewing, the four-product set retails for $24.99 and is distributed by Word Distribution.    

Tyndale House Publishers brought out the two latest “Friends and Heroes” series episodes, nine and 10, in October. Doing Our Part tells the story of Queen Esther, while Horseplay teaches about forgiveness from the story of Joseph. Each episode runs 30 minutes and retails for $12.97.    

Grizzly Adams Productions’ exposé of the unbiblical foundations of Rhonda Byrne’s “law of attraction” personal success book, The Secret, releases mid-November. The 120-minute There Is More to the Secret includes an hour of bonus features and retails for $19.95.    

The Ben Stein-hosted documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed from Premise Media Corp. was due to release Oct. 21, distributed by EMI CMG Distribution, with a retail price of $26.99.
