"Zondervan is honored to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and their noble cause," said Chip Brown, senior vice president and Bible group publisher. Iconic TV actor Gavin MacLeod is charting a new course with his first book this fall.

In his autobiography to be released Oct. 22 by Thomas Nelson, This Is Your Captain Speaking: My Fantastic Voyage Through Hollywood, Faith & Life, MacLeod shares stories and memories of his long and distinguished career, revealing the highs and lows of his life, and how discovering faith in Christ helped him find true happiness.

"My life has taken one incredible turn after another," MacLeod, 82, writes. "I've gotten to do what I wanted to do. I've been a captain! I've been given this incredible gift of life and now I want to use it to give back. That's why I'm sharing my story here, the fun parts and even some not-so-fun parts, in the hopes that maybe someone will take a nice walk down memory lane with me, and maybe I'll even give someone a little bit of hope."

As the character Murray Slaughter, he wrote for airhead anchor Ted Baxter on the groundbreaking program The Mary Tyler Moore Show for seven years. As Merrill Stubing, he was captain of The Love Boat for nearly a decade, and MacLeod continues to serve as an ambassador for Princess Cruise Lines. Cruise industry executives often credit the top-rated show for igniting a multi-year boom in cruise bookings.

In his memoir, MacLeod discusses his encounters with some of the world's biggest stars, including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Ronald Reagan, Steve McQueen, Bette Davis and Robert Redford.

He also reveals his battles with depression, alcoholism and near-suicide while working on McHale's Navy, as well as surviving two heart attacks, a quintuple bypass and other health issues.

Additionally, MacLeod recalls how he brought his longtime friend and The Mary Tyler Moore Show co-star Ted Knight to Christ just before he died in 1986.

Production has began in Canada for the movie adaptation of Todd Burpo's runaway best-selling book, Heaven Is for Real (Thomas Nelson), UPI reported. The film is scheduled for theatrical release around Easter 2014.

Filming started last week in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on the family feature—starring Greg Kinnear as Todd Burpo, a small-town pastor in Nebraska, TriStar Pictures said.

Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) is portraying Burpo's wife, Sonja, and first-time actor Connor Corum plays Colton, while Thomas Haden Church (Sideways) has the role of family friend Jay Olson. Kinnear's acting credits include The Last Song and As Good As It Gets, which garnered him an Oscar nomination for his supporting role.

Randall Wallace—who wrote the Academy Award-winning film Braveheart and directed Secretariat—is directing Heaven Is for Real, which will be produced by Joe Roth (Oz the Great and Powerful and Alice in Wonderland) and T.D. Jakes—pastor at The Potter's House in Dallas, best-selling author and co-producer of the movie Jumping the BroomWallace also wrote The Touch, a novel from Tyndale House Publishers.

Heaven Is for Real's "true story and message of hope through the eyes of a child has already brought comfort and inspiration to millions," said Matt Baugher, senior vice president and publisher of Thomas Nelson's recently resurrected imprint W Publishing Group. "The film will do the same."

Heaven Is for Real is being overseen at Sony Pictures' TriStar division, led by DeVon Franklin, author of Produced by Faith: Enjoy Real Success Without Losing Your True Self (Howard Books).

Country music icon Loretta Lynn will host well-known Southern gospel musicians to perform during a two-day inspirational event at her ranch home.

The inaugural "Loretta Lynn's Gospel Music Festival" is to be held Sept. 28-29 at Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

"It's kind of like an old-time 'all-day singing and dinner on the ground,' " Lynn, 81, said. "I got to thinking, I have a big ranch where I live, so I decided to throw a good ol' gospel weekend here. I want family and friends to bring a blanket, set up a picnic and then enjoy some of my favorite gospel music singers.

"I may even come down and sing a song myself," she added. "I hope it will be something we can keep going every year. I already have a big campground and cabins where people can stay. We also have a big stage; we have concerts all summer and have done so since 1974."

Scheduled to appear during the festival are Mark Lowry, The Hoppers, The Isaacs, Karen Peck and New River, Gold City, Rambo-McGuire, The Singing Cookes, The Freemans, Brian Free & Assurance, Michael Combs, Archie Watkins & Smoky Mountain Reunion and The Sneed Family.

Guests to the event can also tour Lynn's plantation home, the Butcher Holler Home Place and the new 18,000-square-foot Coal Miner's Daughter museum.
