Christian publishers take 'ForeWord' awards |

Several Christian-market publishers were honored at ForeWord magazine's annual Book of the Year Awards, presented at BookExpo America, held May 18-22 in Washington, D.C. The awards—given in Gold, Silver, Bronze, and occasionally Honorable Mention, levels in 55 categories—are judged by librarians, booksellers and reviewers, and honor “editorial excellence and professional production, as well as the originality of the narrative and the value the book adds to its genre,” according to ForeWord's Web site. Howard Publishing received a Gold award in the Fiction-Religious category for Saving Grace by Denise Hunter. Silver awards went to Eerdmans for Did God Have a Wife? by William G. Dever, Religion; and WestBow Press for Unspoken by Angela Hunt, Fiction- Religious. Bronze awards were given to Kregel Publications for Fighting for Bread and Roses by Lynn A. Coleman, Fiction-Religious; Templeton Foundation Press for Purpose & Power in Retirement by Harold Koenig, Audio Nonfiction; and Eerdmans for War and Faith in Sudan by Gabriel Meyer and James Nicholls, Essays.
Eerdmans also received two Honorable Mentions for The Doors of the Sea by David Bentley (Philosophy) and Dancing With Elvis by Lynda Stephenson (Young Adult Fiction), as did Brazos Press/Baker Publishing Group for Real Sex
