Lord Help Us

, an urban inspirational romantic comedy, is set to release on DVD at Christian retail May 8. The movie was written, directed, edited and executive-produced by former child actor Shavar Ross (Diff'rent Strokes), through his company Tri-Seven Entertainment.

The film stars Nadia Turner, an American Idol top 10 finalist, and comedian Joe Clair (BET's Rap City) as Kayla and Julius (“Jewels”), two best friends who are products of the Los Angeles foster care system and who form a house-cleaning business. Their paths cross with recently widowed Baptist minister the Rev. Henry Lee Thomas (Bill Toliver), who has stepped away from ministry to mourn his wife, Dorinda, played by Academy Award nominee Margaret Avery (The Color Purple).

Despite the film's PG-13 rating, there is no cursing or vulgar language, Ross said, but it does touch on adult topics such as promiscuity and abstinence.

The movie is being distributed by Image Entertainment, a general market company that previously worked with Provident-Integrity Distribution to release The Donnie McClurkin Story DVD in 2004.
