The Ultimate Gift

, a film based on Jim Stovall's best-selling novel, which was published by RiverOak/Cook Communications Ministries, will be released on DVD at Christian retail Aug. 21.

Starring Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and James Garner (The Notebook), the movie, which is rated PG for thematic elements, some violence and language, is about a young man (Drew Fuller) obsessed with status, power and wealth. After his millionaire grandfather's (Garner) death, he must pass a series of 12 tests-or “gifts”-in order to receive “the ultimate gift” left in his grandfather's will.

According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, the film, marketed by FoxFaith, Twentieth Century Fox's faith-based movie division, had a total theatrical gross of $3.4 million after opening on 816 screens on March 9.

The Ultimate Gift DVD, to be released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and distributed by Word Distribution, comes in a widescreen format with a behind-the-scenes featurette featuring cast and crew interviews as well as trailers.
