No, it's not The Shack but I'm sure the publisher doesn't mind a comparison, especially since the original design (below) went in a totally different direction. Besides the cover similarities, the latest release from bestselling author Ted Dekker does involve a serial killer. But this foray into the general market (it's being released by Hachette's general market imprint Center Street) revolves around the BoneMan who abducts women looking for the "ultimate daughter." Dekker, who continues to write with Christian publisher Thomas Nelson (most recently the novel Kiss), took an option in his contract for this standalone novel. original cover design Hachette has high hopes for Dekker's mainstream push. When I spoke to Harry Helm, associate publisher, a few months ago, he said "I don’t understand why he isn’t a huge national bestselling author. I’m a fan of the genre he writes in and he is writing the best out there in my opinion. I’ve given copies of Adam to friends of mine and not mentioned who he was and asked them what they thought. They all said he should already be a New York Times bestselling author. So we think there’s huge huge potential for him in the general market."
