LA Mart has moved its fall GALLA (Give And Live Los Angeles) market to Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in response to buyer and manufacturer requests. The January 2014 GALLA Market will also return to its Tuesday start date and will run Jan. 21-Jan. 28. Retailers found the original fall dates for GALLA, the new brand of LA Mart's quarterly Gift & Home shows, too late in the season for ordering, according to a statement released by LA Mart. "We listened to our partners and our showrooms, as well as reached out to our buyer base, and many voiced concerns over the original dates being too late for some manufacturers to ship and for many of the buyers to order and still receive in time for a true holiday sell-through," said Frank Joens, senior vice president, general manager, LA Mart. "These dates make much more sense for everyone concerned and following the lead of our customers was a natural choice." Patricia Norrins, spokewoman for Small Business Saturday and sponsored by American Express, will be speaking during the fall GALLA market on how retailers can best promote and take advantage of Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving that encourages consumers to shop independent stores for their holiday gift-giving needs. Jennifer Mascari, director of marketing at the LA Mart, added: "Our goal is to provide the best tools, resources and product selection to our buyers anytime they visit the LA Mart. Our GALLA events allow our buyers to step it up a notch and really benefit from our offerings." |
