Abbey Press is set to release “Gaelic Greetings,” an expansion of its niche Irish Christmas products. Lisa Engelhardt, editorial director at the St. Meinrad, Ind.-based company, called the new release is “our most concerted and coordinated Irish Christmas effort to date.” Available Sept. 15, the stoneware line includes a circular Advent wreath with four taper candles ($45), a food-safe square plate with easel ($20), a 12-ounce mug ($14), a round baking dish ($25) and an angel figurine ($25). Designed by artist Amie Jones, the items in the collection are crafted of stoneware in antique white and celadon green with holly artwork. Each features a relief Celtic knotwork band accented by relief rope trim. The wings on the angel figurine are filled with the knotwork pattern. Kristin Huber, assistant buyer for GaelSong, a catalog and online marketer of Celtic products, finds the collection appealing because of its affordable price and because “its blessings are sweet.” Gaelsong gathers goods for those Celtic “by ancestry” or “in spirit.” The mug, square plate and baking dish bear a Gaelic Christmas greeting, “Nollaig Shona Dhuit,” accompanied by an Irish blessing. The Advent wreath displays the words Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, along with their Gaelic translations, and the angel figurine also has an Irish blessing. A 5-inch-by-8-inch tent-style card to use for signage is free with purchase of five Gaelic Greetings items. For more information, visit www.abbeytrade.com. |
