AmericasMart Atlanta has announced it is now the world’s largest digitally accessible wholesale marketplace with completion of its distributed antenna system (DAS) and Wi-Fi network. The fully implemented system delivers enhanced wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds for Verizon Wireless customers. The Wi-Fi network will offer free On-the-Go access to unlimited wireless Internet on all floors. The new technology infrastructure assures optimized Wi-Fi access for web and email users. “This represents the latest advancement in our quest to give customers a digitally rich environment designed to maximize the productivity, profitability and efficiency of their market experience,” said Jeffrey L. Portman Sr., AmericasMart president and chief operating officer. “But, as important as this huge achievement is in our technology ecology, there is much, much more to come—and it’s coming soon.” Comprised of nearly 1,300 antennas, more than 250 fiber-fed remotes and 3,000 connectors, AmericasMart’s DAS installation enhances cellular coverage during high-traffic events when thousands of people might be trying to access the network simultaneously. Additionally, AmericasMart’s enhanced website offers a richer digital experience with expanded exhibitor profiles, searchable content, new floor plans and Market Plan tool. The increased accessibility will be fully active and functional across the 7.1 million-square-foot campus in early December, in time for The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market to be held Jan. 7-14. In addition, with a change in date since the original announcement, Munce Group will host its inaugural CPE at AmericasMart, Jan. 7-8. |
