RebecaSeitzDaveSheets-webBelieversPress has announced plans to acquire the publishing and PR divisions of Glass Road Media, effective June 1. The publisher—a part of 1Source, a collaborative effort with the Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild, SuzyQ Author Coaching, Bethany Press and Anchor Distributors—continues to build a comprehensive platform of author services with the acquisition.

BelieversPress and Glass Road Media recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, and anticipate the full execution of contracts by July 1.

New Whitaker imprint Resolute to publish Ed Cole classics Print Email

WhitakerHouseEdColeGroupPhoto-webThis week Whitaker House and Anchor Distributors began publishing and distributing worldwide the entire collection of books by the late Edwin Louis Cole and his ministry, Christian Men’s Network, under the trade name Resolute Books.

Bob Whitaker Jr., president of Whitaker Corp., and Joann Cole Webster, publisher of Watercolor Books, said their partnership includes 18 repackaged Ed Cole classics featuring new forewords written by Christian leaders who support the ongoing ministry to men, including Robert Morris, Brian Houston, Jack Hayford, Chuck Norris, Stan Toler, Casey Treat, Nick and Christine Caine, Ray Johnston, Sharon Daugherty and Jim Garlow.

Cambridge Bibles’ sales and distribution reverts to Cambridge Print Email

CambridgeBibleBaker Publishing Group has been the North American distributor for Cambridge University Press’ Bible publishing since July 1990. Now, 24 years later, Baker and Cambridge Bibles have agreed to move sales and distribution back to Cambridge.

Dwight Baker, president of Baker Publishing Group, said the move signals a refocus.

“We plan to focus exclusively on our mission, which is to publish original works,” Baker said.

David C Cook announces new editorial director, associate publisher Print Email

IngridBeck-webDavid C Cook has appointed industry veteran Ingrid Beck as the editorial director of trade books and hired longtime publishing professional Tim Peterson as associate publisher of trade books.

Beck started with David C Cook as an assistant editor before moving into the position of developmental editor, working primarily with the Honor Books line. Her role later expanded to managing editor and author relations manager for the trade books team. Prior to her appointment as editorial director, Beck held the position of senior managing editor. Her new position also broadens her role into the acquisition and development of new titles.

Carlos Llanso, CEO of Legacy, notes that “the combination of Christian Inspiration’s extensive assorted greeting card box products and Legacy’s Buy a Card, Feed a Child greeting card program will give us the ability to provide primary control of greeting card departments and card pocket management for stores looking for 70 pockets to 600 pockets.”

WaterBrook Multnomah leaves NRB over ‘Gay Christian’ book Print Email

WaterbrookMultnomahGroup-webWaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group has resigned from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) following a dispute over the publication of Matthew Vines’ God and the Gay Christian (Convergent Books). Though Vines’ book is not targeted for the CBA market and is published not by WaterBrook Press or Multnomah Books, but by an affiliated imprint under Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group division, they share many of the same staff members.

NRB President and CEO Jerry A. Johnson wrote a letter to board members explaining the situation.

Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas leads Selah Award finalists Print Email

SelahAwards-webLighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas (LPC) landed nine finalist spots for the Selah Awards—the most of any publisher.

Eddie Jones, LPC’s founder and publisher, also earned a nod in the Young Adult Fiction category for his Dead Low Tide (Zonderkidz), as did Ann Tatlock, acquisitions and managing editor for LPC’s historical fiction imprint, in Fiction: Historical for Sweet Mercy (Bethany House/Baker Publishing Group).

The house will begin publishing and distributing CSS’ Bible and faith-related studies immediately, while working to create new studies and to make CSS’ library of content available in new ways.

“Over the past several years, I’ve watched my friends at Saint Benedict Press bring Bibles, Catholic courses and other faith-building resources to thousands of parishes and homes,” said Gail Buckley, founder and president of CSS. “In 2010, we partnered to create the CSS Bible, and I am thrilled about my new expanded partnership with Saint Benedict Press through which we will create even more CSS studies and further our mission of gaining souls for Christ.”
