BeABetterDadToday-WebCITIC Press released the simplified Chinese version of Be a Better Dad Today in China on June 1. The book will be published by the nation’s largest business publisher and supported by a nationwide campaign.

Published by Regal in 2012, the book by Gregory W. Slayton is now in its eighth printing in the U.S. and has sold more than 100,000 copies internationally.

After nearly 30 years with the Southern California-based literary firm Yates & Yates, Ledbetter joined Worthy Publishing Group in 2009. Throughout her career, she has served as editorial advisor and literary agent to numerous best-selling authors, including Beth Moore, David Jeremiah, David Platt, Erwin McManus, Chuck Swindoll, Emerson Eggerichs, Les and Leslie Parrott, Henry Cloud and John Townsend.

Jerry Jenkins to host Golden Scroll Awards Print Email

JerryJenkins-webBest-selling author and Christian Writers Guild owner Jerry B. Jenkins will keynote the Golden Scroll Awards Banquet at the 2014 International Christian Retail Show (ICRS), June 22-25.

The awards will be held Sunday afternoon, June 22, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

‘Return to the Hiding Place’ film sees top-five per-screen average showing Print Email

ReturnToTheHidingPlace-webSpencer Productions’ World War II drama Return to the Hiding Place, ranked in the top-five for per-screen average, reaching $7,338.40 per screen in its opening weekend, according to the Rogers & Cowan agency. Released in Chicago; San Antonio and New Braunfels, Texas; and Washington, D.C., this independently produced faith-based film surpassed other wide-release movies, including Neighbors, Blended and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The film’s overall total during the three-day holiday weekend was $36,942 on five screens. The ticket pre-sales campaign through online ticketing reservation service Seatzy, Christian radio and local churches and ministries helped advance sales beyond expectations.

NickelodeonKidsChoiceSportsAthletes and Zonderkidz authors Gabrielle Douglas (Grace, Gold, & Glory: My Leap of Faith) and Bethany Hamilton (Body & Soul: A Girl's Guide to a Fit, Fun and Fabulous Life) were recently nominated for the 1st annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards.

Douglas, an Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, was nominated for Best Female Athlete and Hamilton, a surfer, for Best Comeback Athlete.

Nickelodeon will announce the winners of the Kids' Choice Sports Awards on July 17.

CarolAwardAs part of an ongoing effort to show appreciation for all branches of the CBA publishing, distribution and retail industry, American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) will play several supportive roles at CBA’s 2014 International Christian Retail Show (ICRS).

ACFW will serve as the host of CBA’s Christian Fiction Trends Workshop: Celebrating Story, to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center on Tuesday afternoon, June 24. This ticketed event for retailers will offer attendees a wide range of perspectives on current Christian fiction trends and what that can mean for retailers; insights from the heart of authors; practical information for boosting fiction sales; and a celebration of story and its impact. The event includes an author panel discussing specific fiction trends, time for authors and retailers to enjoy face-to-face conversations, door prizes and gift bags of autographed books from every participating author for every attending retailer.

Best-selling author Michelle Medlock Adams and former Big Ten-football-champ-turned-children’s-pastor Cyle Young took home top honors at the 3rd annual Selah Awards and Unpublished Writers awards. The book awards were presented May 21 at the 2014 Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference.

Conference Director Alton Gansky also presented two Director’s Choice Awards for the best entry in fiction and nonfiction published in the last year. Marianne Jordan received the fiction award for The First Christmas Carol (Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas), and Jo Ann Fore picked up the win in nonfiction for When a Woman Finds Her Voice (Leafwood Press).
