Syracuse, N.Y.-based candle maker Muench-Kreuzer Candle Co., also known as Emkay, announced earlier this month it would lay off a number of employees and reduce its product offerings.

Emkay employs fewer than 50 people, many who will lose their jobs in the next 90 days.

General Manager Rolly DeVore said the company will consolidate its manufacturing space and eliminate unprofitable product lines.

Emkay Candle has been making candles at the same location since its founding in 1925.
