Faith Baby's online presence aids charity California-based baby apparel maker Faith Baby recently offered to make donations to Compassion International on behalf of its new Facebook fans. For two weeks in September, the company challenged anyone who wanted to do so to "like" the company on its Facebook account. Calling the challenge "The Jesus Effect," Faith Baby donated $1 to the Christian relief organization Compassion International for every new fan added during that time, up to a $500 maximum. "I know we are not all able to donate or in a financial position to give," the company's Web site said, as founder and owner Stephanie McGuire issued a challenge on the site to "suggest" its Facebook page to friends and family members. Once the person contacted chose to "like" Faith Baby's Facebook page, the company added $1 to its contribution. The company showed its appreciation when those who suggested someone become a fan e-mailed Faith Baby about their participation. Five prizes-two $25 gift certificates for Faith Baby product, two $50 cash prizes and one gift basket with one dozen items of Faith Baby apparel of the winner's choice-were then awarded. The company reached its goal within a day and a half, McGuire said. Faith Baby's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/faithbabyinc, currently has 14,485 fans. |
