In the latest of its football-themed titles, Tyndale House Publishers has signed Loreane Tomlinson--mother of NFL star and San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, also known as "LT"--to a book deal. Her memoir, LT & Me: What Raising an MVP Taught Me about Life, Faith, and Listening to Your Dreams, will be released July 7. In the book, Loreane tells the story of raising LT as a struggling single mother and watching him overcome obstacles in his quest for greatness. LT was the NFL's Most Valuable Player and Man of the Year in 2006. LT will participate in major media publicity for LT & Me as well as a San Diego book signing with his mother, Tyndale officials said. Marketing efforts will include an advertising and promotion campaign targeting parents and football fans nationwide. Tyndale is looking to duplicate the success of four other football-related books. Released Jan. 27, Uncommon: Finding Your Path to Significance by Tony Dungy recently reached No. 2 on the New York Times Hardcover Advice list. Additionally, The Winners Manual: For the Game of Life by Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel made the New York Times' best-seller list in the Hardcover Advice category last year after it was released July 15. Quiet Strength by Dungy reached No. 1 on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction list in 2007. With more than a million copies in print, Quiet Strength is one of the best-selling sports-related titles in history, Tyndale officials said. Additionally, Deanna Favre's Don't Bet Against Me! (2007) made the New York Times list. |
