Several Christian books have been named finalists of ForeWord Magazine's 2008 Book of the Year Awards.

In the Audio Nonfiction category, the finalists included Abraham Lincoln: A Man of Faith and Courage by Joe Wheeler (Howard Books), narrated by Grover Gardner (Oasis Audio) and The Word of Promise: New Testament MP3 Audio Bible (Thomas Nelson).

The finalists in Audio Fiction category included The Shack by William P. Young (Windblown Media/Hachette Book Group USA), narrated by Roger Mueller (Oasis Audio); Together: A Novel of Shared Vision by Tom Sullivan and Betty White (Thomas Nelson), narrated by Sullivan and White (Oasis Audio); and Red Helmet by Homer Hickam (Thomas Nelson), narrated by Kirsten Potter (Oasis Audio).

In the Fiction: Religious category, the finalists included Havah by Tosca Lee (NavPress) and The Black Cloister by Melanie Dobson (Kregel Publications).

Reflections of God's Holy Land: A Personal Journey Through Israel by Eva Marie Everson and Miriam Feinberg Vamosh (Thomas Nelson) was named a finalist in the Travel Essays category.

More than 1,400 books were entered in 61 categories, with the titles narrowed down to 668 finalists from 376 publishers. A panel of judges composed of librarians and booksellers will determine the winners, to be announced at a ceremony during Book Expo America in New York City, May 29. ForeWord Magazine characterizes itself as a publication that "reviews good books independently published."
