The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's (ECPA) new, consumer-oriented Christian Book Expo (CBE)--set for this weekend--has attracted early registrants from around the globe. Scheduled March 20-22 at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, almost 50 registrations have been received to date from outside North America, representing 23 countries. Contributing to the overseas interest in CBE is the Rights & Licensing Marketplace on the show's exhibit floor and the International Management Forum (IMF)--a separate but related event occurring in the same location the day before the expo, ECPA officials said. "International publishers were early advocates for (CBE), so we've developed both training and connecting opportunities," said ECPA President Mark Kuyper. "We're committed to empowering international publishers and authors as we're introducing consumers to the best Christian books available." A training program to be held at the convention center March 19, the IMF is being offered at no cost to publishers attending CBE. The Rights & Licensing Marketplace will feature U.S. publishers whose titles are available for licensing in other languages and formats. Besides the rights marketplace, CBE will feature more than 200 authors speaking, signing books, conducting workshops and meeting consumers, a Bible exhibit, KidZone program and worship events. The Christy Awards Fiction Showcase will also be held March 21 during CBE. The event will feature speaker and novelist Liz Curtis Higgs emceeing a panel of authors, including Terri Blackstock, T. Davis Bunn, Mindy Starns Clark, Jerry Jenkins, Beverly Lewis, Robert Liparulo, Bill Myers and Janette Oke. Click here for more information on CBE. |
