The Gospel Music Association (GMA) announced the recipients of the 2009 GMA Special Awards.

Premier Productions was recognized with the 2009 Impact Award for the Winter Jam tour, which started with an event in January 1990 featuring NewSong. The 2009 tour averaged 10,000 people a night and drew more than 335,000 people in 35 cities nationwide. The evangelistic tour had an estimated 69,700 young people receive Christ, GMA said. The Impact Award is presented to the non-artist individual or organization that has made the most significant impact in the gospel music industry in the last two or three years.

First published in 1969 and known as "The Voice of Southern Gospel Music," Singing News magazine was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes major contributions to the gospel music industry for 20 or more years.

Host of the radio program "The Tom Joyner Morning Show," Tom Joyner was recognized with the Outstanding Mainstream Contribution to Gospel Music Award, which recognizes a person or entity outside of the Christian music industry that has helped bring the genre to a wider audience.

President George W. Bush impersonator John Morgan, author of My Life as a Bush ... and My Heart for Imitating Jesus (Creation House), was honored with the Grady Nutt Humor Award-presented to a faith-based comedian who uses his or her talents for the cause of Christ.
