The Blackwood Brothers Quartet and Daywind Records have entered an exclusive agreement that will include a recording celebrating the group's 75 years in gospel music.

Considered pioneers of Southern gospel, the quartet was formed in 1934 with brothers Roy, Doyle and James Blackwood as well as Roy's son, R.W. In 2002, James Blackwood died, but his son Jimmy (James Jr.) continued the group. Along with Jimmy, the quartet today consists of Wayne Little, Randy Byrd and Brad White.

"What an honor to be a part of history," said Norman Holland, Daywind Records vice president and director of artists and repertoire. "Blackwood Brothers' music and songs are what established what we now know as Southern gospel music."

The quartet's latest CD, which will feature Blackwood Brothers' classics along with several new songs, will be released this fall.

Daywind Records is based in Hendersonville, Tenn., and is distributed through New Day Christian Distributors. For more information on The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, click here.
