John Schlitt--lead singer for the GRAMMY Award-winning Christian band Petra--was recently named the best rock singer in Christian music history by GospelMusicChannel.com. Schlitt was selected from among 10 other rock singers who were graded in terms of undeniable talent, vocal ability and indelible impact upon generations past and present. Other artists on the list include Switchfoot lead singer Jon Foreman, Phil Keaggy, dcTalk's Michael Tait, Skillet's John Cooper and Burlap to Cashmere frontman Steven Delopoulos. "To be considered first among talent such as Kevin Max and Michael Sweet is truly an honor," said Schlitt, described by GospelMusicChannel.com as "one of the most distinctive and impactful men to ever stand behind a microphone." As a solo artist, Schlitt has released three solo albums, including The Grafting (4K Records/TAG Artist Group), which came out in January 2008. |
