magazine has praised the recently released Glo Bible (Zondervan), the latest software product aiming to marry the Scriptures with new technologies.

In a Web-exclusive column on Newsweek.com titled "Goodbye to Gideon," religion writer Lisa Miller details a meeting with Nelson Saba, creator of Glo, and profiles the new multimedia product--pondering if it's "the beginning of the end of the Word."

"Unlike other digital Bibles, this one is cool with a capital C," she wrote. "Designed for people who prefer to read while they're watching TV and texting and downloading music, Glo is to the Bible what SimCity is to the comic book: an interactive scriptural immersion experience."

Miller also detailed a few items that she believed makes the product less than "perfect," including its memory size and price. She concluded that "that the leather-bound Bible on every household bookshelf may soon--like records and videocassettes and newspapers--be endangered, if not extinct."

With a suggested retail price of $79.99, Glo, which has three DVDs, allowing users to experience the Scriptures through five "lenses"-the Bible, using the New International Version; an atlas; a timeline; articles by scholars and teachers; and media, including video and art.
