Inventory management and effective merchandising for Christian bookstores are to be among the training topics at The Gathering 2010, to be held at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., April 21-23, next year.

More than a dozen workshops will be presented by leading bookstore managers at the event, to be hosted by Christian Retailing magazine for church-based and other Christian retail stores.

The educational lineup includes sessions such as "Books and More Books: What to Keep, What to Buy, What to Toss," "Making Money and Marketing on the Internet" and "Special Touches: Gift Baskets, Gift Bags, Gift Registries."

"The educational track is shaping up to be the strongest in the six-year history of The Gathering," said Christian Retailing Publisher Dave Condiff. "We have some of the best practitioners in the industry sharing what they know and addressing some of the most important topics for stores right now."

In addition to training, The Gathering 2010 will feature inspiration and worship, and an exhibit floor with around 80 suppliers. Southeast Christian Church is home to The Living Word bookstore, named the 2009 Large Church Bookstore of the Year by The Church Bookstore magazine.

Registration for the event is $125, but free to those placing qualifying orders during Christian Retailing's Virtual Christmas Showcase.
