Christian product world leaders are due to meet in the new year to discuss some kind of new collaboration on industry events. CBA Chairman-elect George Thomsen said that there was "interest in bringing several parties together to discuss possibilities." The move follows previous talks about possibly combining events or holding them in the same city. "In the last few months there has been some interest and discussions in industry consolidation and possible event co-location," Thomsen told Christian Retailing. "We initiated and already have had some meetings and discussions with other parties who also have an interest..." Thomsen added: "I am thankful that there is an interest and willingness to consider working together for the good of the industry." Gospel Music Association (GMA) Chairman Ed Leonard said that the organization was "in discussion with several entities about such a co-location as it reinvents Gospel Music Week for 2011." The GMA will not hold its traditional industry event in Nashville next spring, instead making the April 19-21 program Dove Award Week. Evangelical Christian Publishers Association president Mark Kuyper declined to comment. |
