David C. Cook President and CEO Cris Doornbos is to be the new chairman of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA).

A longtime senior executive before taking on the head role at the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based nonprofit in 2005, Doornbos will replace Thomas Nelson CEO Michael Hyatt when he steps down at the ECPA's Executive Leadership Summit and Annual Member Meeting in Nashville in May.

Moe Girkins, president and CEO of Zondervan, will assume the vice chair role from Dwight Baker, president of Baker Publishing Group. Replacements for Hyatt and Baker--yet to be selected--will join the board member-at-large C. Jeffrey Wright, president and CEO of Urban Ministries; secretary Ray Hendrickson, president and CEO of Hendrickson Publishers; and treasurer Randy Beck, president of WORDsearch.

ECPA President Mark Kuyper paid tribute to Hyatt and Baker for "the wise and gifted leadership both have given our industry through their generous service on the board."

The May 3-5 event will include sessions on leadership, sales and marketing, editorial and spirituality. Topics will include "Reinventing Your Company for the Future," "Understanding the E-book Consumer," "Building Online Traffic and Sales" and "Gutenberg Church in a Google World."

The event's opening banquet will feature the announcement of the ECPA's 2010 Christian Book Awards and the Jordon Lifetime Achievement Award.
