Fearless by Max Lucado (Thomas Nelson) has been named by Family Christian Stores as its 2010 Book of the Year--the third time the best-selling author and pastor has been recognized with the award by the largest Christian chain in the industry. Lucado was previously awarded Family's Book of the Year for 3:16: The Numbers of Hope in 2008 and Next Door Savior in 2002 (both Thomas Nelson). Craig Klamer, senior vice president of general merchandise for Family, said Lucado "has his finger on the pulse of what so many people are dealing with today: fear. And he offers focused, faith-filled hope to combat that fear. It's a message we believe people need to hear, and that's why Family Christian Stores is so pleased to offer Fearless as our 2010 Book of the Year." Released in September, Fearless has been ranked atop the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's new list for multichannel sales, drawn from Christian, general market and Internet retailers. Thomas Nelson Senior Vice President and Group Publisher David Moberg said "the message of encouragement" from Fearless "has only increased since the book's release. The hope of a life without fear is still very much in demand." After nearly 25 years as an author, Lucado--minister of writing and preaching at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio--has more than 65 million books in print. Family has nearly 300 locations with more than 3,000 employees in 36 states. |
