Major trends and key industry issues will be on the menu when Christian retailers and suppliers meet and eat at The Gathering 2010 in April. Meal times at the three-day event at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., will feature presentations and discussions on several issues, including digital publishing's impact on retail and the growing importance of discount books. In addition, CBA Chair-elect George Thomsen--who will also be one of the workshop presenters at the event--will speak about the role of the trade association and the search for a replacement for longtime President and CEO Bill Anderson, who stepped down in October. Taking part in the forums will be Joe Questel, vice president of sales and business development at digital-media retail platform Symtio, and Jerry Bloom, president of discount distribution leader Treasures Media. They will be joined by retailers who have been successful in both areas in answering questions from attendees. "We believe that these sessions are going to be really beneficial," said Dave Condiff, publisher of Christian Retailing magazine, which is organizing the April 21-23 event. "These are issues that stores just have to consider as they move forward in the new digital and economic times." Offering training, fellowship, inspiration and time for business, The Gathering will also offer around 20 workshops for stores and an exhibition floor with more than 50 suppliers already confirmed.
