Hachette Book Group USA had double-digit sales growth last year, according to financial reports released last week by its parent company, French media conglomerate Lagardère.

Hachette's total earnings before interest and taxes in 2009 increased 24% to approximately $455 million, company officials said. Besides the success of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" saga, several other titles--including William P. Young's The Shack--were cited in contributing to the growth. Published by Windblown Media, The Shack has sold more than 10 million copies via all retail channels since its release in May 2007.

In terms of revenue, total earnings before interest and taxes, and best-sellers, 2009 was a record-breaking year, company officials said. A total of 130 Hachette titles made the New York Times best-seller lists--up from 107 in 2008--with 24 reaching No. 1.
