EMI Christian Music Group (EMI CMG) has entered into an exclusive licensing and marketing agreement with Hillsong Music, part of Hillsong Church--based in Sydney, Australia. Effective immediately, the deal covers North America and Latin America. EMI CMG will work with Hillsong Music regarding music and video, live events and leadership/church resources. In addition, EMI CMG will work with Hillsong Publishing in the promotion of its song catalog starting Oct. 1. "Our association of over 14 years with Integrity Music, as our music distributor, finished at the end of last year," said Hillsong Church and Music General Manager George Aghajanian. "We appreciate the relationship we have had with them, which has been very fruitful over that time. As we enter this next season of ministry, we look forward to a new partnership with EMI Christian Music Group and are excited at the opportunities available to continue to serve the body of Christ." Hillsong Music was previously distributed in the U.S. by Provident-Integrity Distribution. EMI CMG will support the Hillsong LIVE tour in the U.S., scheduled for July 21-Aug. 4, as well as the new Hillsong LIVE album--A Beautiful Exchange--set to release June 29. EMI CMG will also distribute this fall The I Heart Revolution: We're All In This Together, a social-justice DVD documentary by Hillsong United. Hillsong Music has sold more than 11 million albums and has earned 30 Gold and Platinum awards worldwide. Besides a 25,000-plus-strong congregation in Australia, Hillsong Church also has congregations in London; Cape Town, South Africa; and Kiev, Ukraine. Additionally, Hillsong has churches in Stockholm, Sweden and Paris, and recently announced plans to establish a church in New York City. |
