Friends and Heroes Productions is making available for the first time to the Christian retail channel in North America an international-version DVD of its multi-award-winning animated Bible series.

Following the end of its partnership with Tyndale House Publishers last year, the U.K.-based company has launched Friends and Heroes LLC in Greenville, Texas, to distribute the 39-episode set, which released in 2007 and is now available in 10 languages.

Each episode of the 25-minute series--which features both 2-D and 3-D animation--follows the adventures of 14-year-olds Macky and Portia, weaving in stories from the Old and New Testaments.

"The first series of DVDs was released in the U.S. by Tyndale, and was very successful," Executive Producer Alison Dorricott said. "But we felt it was time to take a different approach. ... Our new U.S.-based team will be selling and supporting all three series of 'Friends and Heroes'--that's 39 episodes in all, 13 per series."

Each of the new two-episode, multi-language DVDs retails for $24.99 and features at least four Bible stories, company officials said. Friends and Heroes will launch the new releases during the International Christian Retail Show in St. Louis, June 27-30.
