Precious Moments has announced a licensing agreement with Roman to design and distribute inspirational products for the Christian market. The two gift companies say they plan to make products "uniquely suited to the Christian consumer," and will include Samuel J. Butcher's Precious Moments artwork, said officials for both suppliers.

The initial licensed introduction, due out this fall, will include sacramental gifts available for the first quarter of 2011. Later introductions will include more inspirational product, including plaques, crosses and frames, as well as a line of Christmas products.

Dan Loughman, president and CEO of Roman, said he sees the customer as "the big winner" in this agreement. "With our 47-year history, Roman can provide the expertise in designing and creating inspirational and sacramental product featuring the highly recognizable Precious Moments artwork," he said. "Precious Moments will get product placement and brand recognition in the inspirational market, and Roman will get product placement with customers that Precious Moments has a strong relationship with."

Barbara Weston, director of giftware at Roman, added: "We are excited to create products using Precious Moments artwork and to produce sacramental giftware under license. It is a wonderful opportunity for two iconic, family-run companies in the inspirational giftware industry to partner their collective expertise."

Weston said the companies are already working on a November introduction of the "Precious Moments Communion Collection," which will include Communion missal, rosary, jewelry and seven communion kits for boys and girls. Prices range from $9.75 to $35.
