Inpop Records band Newworldson is among the top nominees for the 32nd Annual Covenant Awards in Canada, garnering eight nominations.

To be held Oct. 29 at First Alliance Church in Calgary, Alberta, the award show is the pinnacle event of the Gospel Music Association Canada Week, which featured a conference, artist showcases, talent-search competition and awards banquet.

Newworldson received eight nods, including Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Group of the Year and Artist of the Year. Also nominated for Group of the Year were Hawk Nelson, Starfield, Thousand Foot Krutch and Downhere. Besides Newworldson, Artist of the Year nominees were Matt Maher, Manafest, Greg Szcebel and Starfield.

Besides Newworldson's "There is a Way," Song of the Year nominees were "Causin' a Commotion" by Greg Sczebel; "Hold Us Together" by Matt Maher; "Love Came Down" by Ben Cantelon; and "Rediscover You" by Starfield.

In addition to Newworldson's sophomore self-titled release, Album of the Year nominees were Alive Again by Matt Maher (Essential Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution); The Chase by Manafest (BEC Recordings/EMI CMG Distribution); The Saving One by Starfield (Sparrow Records/EMI CMG); and Welcome to the Masquerade by Thousand Foot Krutch (Tooth & Nail Records/EMI CMG).
