Christian products distributor Spring Arbor will manage the fulfillment and distribution of promotional products for the first nationwide Christian Store Day, to be held Oct. 23. Modeled after the successful Record Store Day that has championed independent music retailers in the past few years, the initiative to raise awareness of Christian retail stores will feature giveaways, in-store appearances and a $5 benefit CD to raise money for Compassion International, Samaritan's Purse and World Vision efforts in Haiti. With songs from artists such as Newsboys and TobyMac, the CD also will include a book download, three digital titles and the first episode of Phil Vischer's new children's DVD series from Tyndale House Publishers, "What's in the Bible?" More than 100 books, CDs and DVDs will be available for sale as $5, $10 and half-price specials, with vendors supporting the effort also providing free products for hourly giveaways. Backed by CBA, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association and the Christian Music Trade Association, the event is being sponsored by Tyndale House Publishers, Thomas Nelson, Zondervan, Word Distribution, EMI CMG Distribution and Provident-Integrity Distribution. Almost 500 stores have registered to participate in the campaign, CBA said. Click here for more information. |
