Maranatha! Music has agreed to a long-term agreement with EMI CMG Distribution. The deal calls for EMI CMG to assume Christian and general market rights in North America as well as digital rights worldwide of Maranatha! Music. EMI CMG will distribute three new Maranatha! titles released this month--In the Spirit of Christmas, Platinum Praise and the I Am Official Motion Picture Soundtrack--plus more than 35 physical catalog titles, 400-plus digital catalog titles and thousands of songs. "From its founding by pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel in 1971, Maranatha! Music ushered in praise & worship from its early hippie days when 'Jesus Music' was being sung on the beaches of California to today's modern worship music, which is accepted and sung in churches worldwide," said Greg Bays, senior vice president, sales and marketing for EMI CMG Distribution. "Maranatha! Music has created an enduring legacy that EMI CMG will continue to foster as we work together." Maranatha! Music President and CEO Randy Alward added: "This new alliance with EMI CMG Distribution certainly strengthens our ties to retail." |
