Christian artists honored with ASCAP awards |

Jeremy Camp and Matthew West were among those honored during the 32nd annual ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Christian Music Awards, held Oct. 25 in Nashville. Camp was recognized with his first ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year award, as well as Most Performed awards for "There Will Be a Day" and "Healing Hand of God." Camp has twice been awarded ASCAP Songwriter of the Year, in 2005 and 2006, and he was honored with ASCAP's Song of the Year award for "Take You Back" in 2006. "The Motions," recorded by Matthew West and co-written by Sam Mizell, Jason Houser and West, was recognized with the ASCAP Christian Music Song of the Year. Ben Glover was recognized with his first ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award for writing four of the most performed songs of the past year: "Before The Morning" by Josh Wilson; "Let the Waters Rise" by Mikeschair; "Savior, Please" by Josh Wilson; and "The Lost Get Found" by Britt Nicole. ASCAP Publisher of the Year honors went to EMI CMG Publishing, which had eight award-winning songs: "Before the Morning"; "Forgiven"; "Healing Hand of God"; "I Will Rise"; "Savior, Please"; "Sing, Sing, Sing"; "The Lost Get Found"; and "There Will Be a Day."
