Disney's A Christmas Carol

is being released Nov. 16 on DVD and Blu-ray by Walt Disney Home Video, and distributed to Christian stores by Spring Arbor.

An adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, the film—which stars Jim Carrey as Scrooge and all three ghosts, and directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express)—grossed more than $325 million worldwide at the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

The motion-capture animated version received mixed reviews—though most Christian film critics liked the movie—when it hit theaters last November.

Rated PG for scary sequences and images, MovieGuide magazine said the movie was "an instant Christmas classic" and "the best, most Christ-centered version of this classic tale from Charles Dickens ever made." Focus on the Family's Pluggedin.com called it a "pretty dark ghost story," but the "common need for redemption is made plain" in the film.
