Christian Retailing is introducing a new feature to help stores maximize their opportunities with inspirational fiction. From January, each edition of the magazine will include a Fiction File department in the book section covering major new releases. The new department will list current top sellers from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's sales data, note major new releases for the coming month and spotlight a leading novelist. First in focus is Lisa Wingate, whose Larkspur Cove is to be released in February by Bethany House (Baker Publishing Group). She tells Christian Retailing how the story came about and discusses its faith elements. The Fiction File initiative follows the recent launch of Christian Retailing's Author Corner, an online library of short video interviews with scores of leading writers. They speak about what motivates them to write, talk about their work habits and offer a special message to Christian retailers. "We want to help stores keep up with all that's happening with Christian fiction as it is such an important category," said Christian Retailing Editor Andy Butcher. "They need to know not only what is selling well and what the major titles are, but also something about the people behind them. Christian fiction readers have a particular sense of affinity with their favorite authors, so retailers need to know something about them, too." |
