The Christian Writers Guild (CWG), owned by best-selling author Jerry B. Jenkins, has acquired Word Weavers, a writing critique group network with chapters in three states. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Based in Longwood, Fla., and founded in 1997, Word Weavers now has seven chapters and 200 members, some of whom have earned book contracts, published magazine articles and taught at writers’ conferences. The organization had developed “a great model for local chapters,” Jenkins said, and would help the guild in “restocking the pool of Christian writers.” Word Weavers President Larry J. Leech II said that the group was honored to become part of the guild, which was “the most prolific organization in the country dedicated to teaching and coaching writers.” Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., CWG trains writers through e-mail courses, contests, conferences and critiques. “Plugging our members and students into peer groups has been an ingredient we've long dreamed of adding to the mix,” Jenkins said. |
