Christmas gift buying likely made a big impact in Christian book sales last month with three devotionals in the top 10 titles tracked by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Associational (ECPA). Sarah Young's Jesus Calling (Thomas Nelson) remained in the top spot for the four-week cycle ending Dec. 25, with its deluxe edition taking third place. Streams in the Desert by L.B. Cowman/James Reimann (Zondervan) was fourth. The rest of the ECPA's January top 10 books are: 2. Crazy Love by Francis Chan (David C. Cook); 5. Heaven Is for Real by Todd Burpo/Lynn Vincent (Thomas Nelson); 6. Outlive Your Life by Max Lucado (Thomas Nelson); 7. Choosing to See by Mary Beth Chapman/Ellen Vaughn (Revell/Baker Publishing Group); 8. Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas (Thomas Nelson); 9. Unlocked by Karen Kingsbury (Zondervan); and 10. Radical by David Platt (Multnomah Books). The top 10 selling Bibles for the same period: 1. Text Bible, NKJV (Thomas Nelson); 2. ESV Outreach New Testament (Crossway); 3. One Year Bible, NIV, softcover (Tyndale House Publishers); 4. NIV Thinline Bible, burgundy bonded leather (Zondervan); 5. NIV Adventure Bible, hardcover (Zondervan); 6. NIV True Images, Italian Duo-Tone chocolate/bubble gum (Zondervan); 7. Share the Good News Outreach New Testament, ESV (Crossway); 8. God Sightings: The One Year Bible, NLT, softcover (Tyndale House Publishers); 9. NIV Revolution, Italian Duo-Tone Mediterranean blue/black (Zondervan); and 10. NIV Adventure Bible, 3-D hardcover (Zondervan). The ECPA lists are drawn from Christian retail stores across the country, through its PubTrack Christian data system. Book lists are based on trade discounted titles selling in at least 20% of reporting stores. Tracts and booklets are excluded. |
