Suppliers have begun nominating their best releases of the year in the 2011 Retailers Choice Awards. Companies wishing to enter have until today to take advantage of the Early-Bird discount in the competition's record 45 categories. The Retailers Choice Awards program has been increasingly acknowledged as an important way of recognizing some of the most significant new life-changing products in the Christian retail industry. Before retailer voting begins in the Christian Retailing-sponsored competition—marking 11 years in 2011—suppliers will be nominating their best products of 2010. Books, Bibles, music, gifts and more may be nominated. For 2011, a number of new categories have been added, including First-Time Authors and books in the Reformed theological tradition. Also added Curriculum: Nontraditional for lessons that fall outside the scope of Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Additionally, fiction has been expanded to include all of the following: Children's; Contemporary Romance; Fantasy/Science Fiction; Historical Romance; Mystery and Suspense; and General. Suppliers who nominate their products by Jan. 17 can save on entry fees by using the Early Bird option (buy five, get one free; buy 10, get two free, and so on). The entry fee remains just $50 per item. The nomination period for publishers and other suppliers runs until Jan. 31. The 2011 winners will be announced in April.
