Promotions for a new historical novel by award-winning author Jane Kirkpatrick are going the extra mile to engage readers. To be released April 5, A Daughter's Walk (WaterBrook Press) is based on the real-life story of Helga Westby and her daughter Clara's 3,500-mile walk in 1896 from Spokane, Wash., to New York City. The cross-country journey earned them a $10,000 reward, which saved their family farm from foreclosure. To promote the book, retailers are being encouraged to connect with readers through a downloadable kit, which shows customers how to have their own mother/daughter walk or set up a "walk" event to help those in their community connect with each other, as well as local or national charities. Kirkpatrick's A Flickering Light (WaterBrook Press) was recognized among the top Christian fiction titles of 2009 by Library Journal in its annual Best Books list. Click here for more information. |
