Howard Books will publish what it calls "one of the most-anticipated books" about Sarah Palin, the former vice-presidential candidate and former Alaskan governor. To be released May 24, Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin by former Palin aide Frank Bailey "unmasks the truth about one of the most notorious political figures of our time," the company said in a statement. Bailey—who was close to Palin during her gubernatorial campaign, her term as governor and during her vice-presidential run with John McCain—said that Palin's priorities and personality "are not only ill-suited to head a political party or occupy national office, but would lead to a disaster of ... biblical proportions." Jonathan Merkh, Howard Books vice president and publisher, added: "When I read this manuscript, I knew it would resonate with readers on either side of the political forum. The evidence in this book portrays a very different Sarah Palin than what we see in public." Palin's first book, Going Rogue (HarperCollins), sold more than 2.6 million copies in 2009 and topped the New York Times best-seller list. Released last year, Palin's second book, America by Heart (HarperCollins), had a first printing of 1 million copies. Christian publishers have released several Palin biographies since the 2008 election year, including The Faith and Values of Sarah Palin by Stephen Mansfield and David A. Holland (FrontLine); Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader by Joe Hilley (Zondervan); and Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down by Kaylene Johnson (Epicenter Press/Tyndale House Publishers). Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader and Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down made the New York Times' best-seller list in the Paperback Nonfiction category. |
