Nominees for the 12th annual Christy Awards have been announced. The awards for excellence in Christian fiction will go to winners in nine categories: Contemporary Romance; Contemporary Series, Sequels and Novellas; Contemporary Stand-alone; First Novel; Historical; Historical Romance; Suspense; Visionary; and Young Adult. The nominees in the Contemporary Romance category are Blood Ransom by Lisa Harris (Zondervan), Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann (WaterBrook Press) and Sworn to Protect by DiAnn Mills (Tyndale House Publishers). The Reluctant Prophet by Nancy Rue (David C. Cook), The Thorn by Beverly Lewis (Bethany House/Baker Publishing Group) and b by Suzanne Woods Fisher (Revell/Baker Publishing) are the nominees in the Contemporary Series, Sequels and Novellas category. The nominees in the Contemporary Stand-alone category are Almost Heaven by Chris Fabry (Tyndale House Publishers), Lady in Waiting by Susan Meissner (WaterBrook Press) and A Season of Miracles by Rusty Whitener (Kregel Publications). Crossing Oceans by Gina Holmes (Tyndale House Publishers), Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl (Bethany House/Baker Publishing) and A Season of Miracles by Rusty Whitener (Kregel Publications) are the nominees in the First Novel category. The nominees in the Historical category are Chosen: The Lost Diaries of Queen Esther by Ginger Garrett (David C. Cook), For Time & Eternity by Allison Pittman (Tyndale House Publishers) and While We're Far Apart by Lynn Austin (Bethany House/Baker Publishing). For the Historical Romance category, the nominees are The Girl in the Gatehouse by Julie Klassen, She Walks in Beauty by Siri Mitchell and Within My Heart by Tamera Alexander (all Bethany House/Baker Publishing). The nominees in the Suspense category are The Bishop by Steven James (Revell/Baker Publishing), The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker (Center Street) and Predator by Terri Blackstock (Zondervan). For the Visionary category, the nominees are To Darkness Fled by Jill Williamson (Marcher Lord Press), König's Fire by Marc Schooley (Marcher Lord Press) and The Last Christian by David Gregory (WaterBrook Press). The nominees in the Young Adult category are The Charlatan's Boy by Jonathan Rogers (WaterBrook Press), The Healer's Apprentice by Melanie Dickerson (Zondervan) and Motorcycles, Sushi & One Strange Book by Nancy Rue (Zondervan). Featuring writer and director Randall Wallace as keynote speaker and New York Times best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs as emcee, the Christy Awards ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m., July 11 at the Hyatt Regency, just prior to the opening of the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta.
