Courageous , the widely anticipated follow-up from the makers of the hit movie Fireproof, will have a red-carpet screening tomorrow, Aug. 26, at Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre. To be released in theaters nationwide Sept. 30, Courageous—which addresses fatherhood through the lives of four police officers—will be shown Aug. 26 during the invitation-only screening, to be co-hosted by Chick-fil-A Senior Vice President Don "Bubba" Cathy and his family. Michael Catt—executive producer and senior pastor of Courageous' film-making brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick's home church, Sherwood Baptist Church, in Albany, Ga.—will be joined at the event by the cast of the movie and best-selling author Randy Alcorn, co-author of Courageous: A Novel—released earlier this month by Tyndale House Publishers. The novel, based on the screenplay by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, is one of several products related to Courageous. On Sept. 1, B&H Books will simultaneously release English and Spanish versions of The Resolution for Men by the Kendrick brothers and The Resolution for Women by Priscilla Shirer. The books challenge men and women to become as bold and intentional about embracing their responsibilities as leaders of their homes, marriage and children. On the same day, B&H Books will also publish Courageous Living by Michael Catt. Along with the Kendrick brothers, Catt also wrote the Courageous Living Bible Study and Courageous Campaign Kit, to be released by B&H Publishing Group on Sept. 1. In September, gift supplier DaySpring is releasing wall art featuring a plot device from Courageous. The Resolution, a commitment-pledge to lead and serve their families signed by the lead characters in Courageous, will be available in a frame with family picture photo spot and printed prepacks for group distribution. In addition, DaySpring will be bringing out a Courageous-themed DayBrightener calendar with movie quotes, inspirational sayings and scriptures, and greeting cards. Leading apparel company Kerusso has released the Courageous T-shirt, which says "Honor Begins at Home! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15." Attracting large turnouts when it was screened twice during the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta last month, Courageous—with strong consumer interest and multiple related products—is being seen as key for many Christian stores' fourth-quarter revenues. During the invitation-only screening, the National Fatherhood Initiative will presents its Fatherhood Award to Catt in recognition of Courageous' efforts "to create a movement to inspire better fathering."
