A new DVD series about the Amazon jungle has been hailed as "a biblical response to radical environmentalism and a vision for manly stewardship." Released this summer by Vision Forum, Into the Amazon: One Lost World, Thirty Men, Seven Mysteries explores the Amazon, Machu Picchu and the Great Peruvian Desert in a National Geographic-like nature mini-series, but with a distinctly Christian worldview. Retailing for $45 and available in Christian bookstores, the seven-episode DVDs, with more than 300 minutes, has won commendations from Answers in Genesis (AiG). "With Nova-like camera work often seen on PBS, the fruits of (the 30 Christian men's) labor have yielded a series that documents their adventures and teaches live-changing biblical perspectives—which would be censored from PBS and nearly every public school science classroom," AiG said. "Sadly, the excellent, Bible-centered teaching in this series is just about non-existent in most Christian colleges and schools." San Antonio-based Vision Forum also recently released the latest in the popular "Jonathan Park" series—Jonathan Park Goes to the Amazon—which is also available in Christian stores. Based on the radio drama series created by the Institute for Creation Research in the late 1990s, the seven-album series' fictional storyline revolves around the adventures of Dr. Kendall Park and Jim Brenan as they build a creation museum. The "Jonathan Park" series continues to be a good seller for CBD," said Ray Hendrickson, president and CEO of Christianbook.com (CBD). "Out of the nearly 1,600 audiobooks intended primarily for children, resources from the series currently make up many of our top 50 titles. Jonathan Park resources are really popular with homeschoolers." Click here to watch a trailer for Into the Amazon, and here for more information on the "Jonathan Park" series. |
