Sandi Patty will be delivering her rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”—for which she became nationally known during the 1986 re-dedication of the Statue of Liberty—on New Year’s Eve at the stroke of midnight. She will take the stage in New York City’s Times Square for FOX News Channel’s All American New Year’s Eve Special, which will also feature Big and Rich, Trace Adkins, the Broadway cast of Rock of Ages, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. “To welcome the new beginning of a New Year while celebrating the past year is quite a poignant moment to sing ‘The Star Spangled Banner,’ " said Patty. “It’s an unbelievable honor to be a part of this celebration with FOX News Channel.” Patty has sung at patriotic celebrations, including inaugurations for Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush; A Capitol Fourth with the National Symphony; the Indianapolis 500; the dedication of the Camp David chapel; and ABC’s Fourth of July special. In October, Patty released her first full-length symphonic pops album, Broadway Stories (Stylos Records), conducted by pops maestro Jack Everly. With 40 Dove Awards—the most of any female in gospel music history—five GRAMMYs, three platinum records, five gold records and 11 million units sold, Patty has performed with symphonies across the country, including the New York Pops, Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, Dallas Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony and Oklahoma City Philharmonic. Patty will star as Dolly Levi in “Hello, Dolly!” and share the stage with actor and Tony Award winner Gary Beach in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s concert production of the musical next month. She will also host the inaugural Sandi Patty & Friends Cruise in February. Earlier this year Patty was honored for her lifetime achievements at the 42nd Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. Seven artists—Francesca Battistelli, Natalie Grant, Audrey Assad, Kerri Robert, Janet Paschal, Brit Nicole and Laura Story—each gave a rendition of Patty’s past hit songs at the Dove Awards event. |
