Courageous, the best-selling DVD of all in the country in its first week of release in January, has sold more than a million copies. The faith-based cop drama is from church-based Sherwood Pictures, makers of the hit marriage drama Fireproof. "Like its predecessor Fireproof, Courageous has driven over a million units in sales in the first 90 days of release," Randy Davis, vice president of sales and marketing for Provident, told Christian Retailing. "We are thankful for the partnership with CBA retailers supporting these great films and impacting their communities with these messages of hope, restoration and redemption. Courageous has performed well at many Christian stores, which had offered a variety of pre-buy special offers for as low as $14.97 on the recommended $24.99 price. The Exclusive Collector's Edition for Christian stores includes more than an hour of extra content not available in the general market version. With a production budget of around $2 million, Courageous made $34.5 million in theaters last fall, while debuting at No. 4 in the box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. |
